Mental Health Week
Children have been practising mindfulness in St. Ronan's NS. They are learning how important it is to check in with how they are feeling. In order to mark Mental Health Week the children have been participating in a wide range of activities such as art, mindful homework, yoga, mindful walking, meditation and funky shoe day. Through these activities the children are looking after themselves and developing techniques and strategies to help them cope with their worries. Members of the Deansrath Gospel Choir performed a series of uplifting songs during three performances on Friday morning in our school hall.

Christmas Bazaar 2016
Fifth Class Christmas Bazaar
As a part of the Bí Gnóthach project run by South Dublin County Council both fifth classes took on the task of setting up their own business. After conducting market research and numerous brainstorming plans the children came up with the idea of hosting their own Christmas Bazaar. This was a challenging project which turned out to be highly successful due to the hard work, commitment and positivity of the two classes. They established their business name as Santa's Little Helpers and set about organising business grants and sponsorship. With a grant from the enterprise board, a business loan (from their teachers) and sponsorship from parents and businesses the children began the task of product design. They settled upon Christmas Logs, Reindeer Hot Chocolate packs, Snowman Soup and Reindeer cakes to sell and designed and made many game stalls such as" Find the Golden Carrot" "Reindeer Ring Toss" and "Burst the Balloon" to name just a few. After many days of production and preparation the Bazaar ran without a hitch. The children worked extremely hard and finished the day with a profit of eight hundred and forty euro. They donated this to the Green School Committee to go towards the setting up of a School Garden.

Hill walking

Both walks were very great fun. Despite the pleasant and mild weather the children succeeded in returning with very mucky walking gear. The third walk took place Thursday the 13th October. and due to weather conditions we had to abandon plans to walk in Lough Bray. Cruagh Woods was the destination and the children enjoyed their lunch from the top of Cruagh Hill with views of Howth and Dun Laoghaire. Hill walking will resume in March.
